FEMA Categories B, C, & G
Category B (temporary emergency protective measures) projects include the ‘Moodie Crossing’ (pictured below) and crossing 1500 along highway 34 on the Big Thompson River.
Category C projects include CR 27, aka Buckhorn Road located west of Horsetooth Reservoir. The reconstruction of CR 27 was a 16.5 million dollar project including three new bridges, repair of an existing bridge, 1.6 miles of roadway reconstruction through the “Narrows”, (pictured below) multiple three-sided structures, and Buckhorn Creek restoration and mitigation. Other category C projects include Big Thompson River Jasper Bridge, Big Thompson Pedestrian Bridge, CR 44H, Mill Creek, and Redstone Canyon.
Permanent repairs and restoration for Parks, Recreational Facilities or Category G projects include Hermit Park and Lions Park Open Space. After the September 2013 flood event, Hermit Park ((pictured below) suffered major damage to the park’s interior roadways and infrastructure. AVI performed the design and construction management for the project returning it to its former glory.
